Koson o hara goldfish care
Koson o hara goldfish care and maintenance
Ohara name origin.
One of Ohara Koson’s most famous woodblock prints, this dreamy pair of goldfish swim in a light pool against the silhouettes of aquatic plants. Koson used embossing for the outlines of the goldfish, plus the scales and fins use gold ink to shimmer.
This print was originally published in 1926, and had successive printings with different seals.
This one has a circular 6mm seal which was used very early by Watanabe from 1909 to late 1926, and then again after WWII, not the “A” seal which was used 1924 to 1930. But we know it was a first edition circular seal because of the original sticker on the back.
